Motivation

Hi everyone! I'm here... I promise! I finally got back in front of the sewing machine last week and actually made a dress! Some how the little one growing inside me has sucked up not only my energy but also all my creative motivation. Lucky for me Project Run and Play is back in full swing and the Kids Sewing Week Challenge is just around the corner. I'm not sure if it is the deadlines, the themes or just seeing the creativity of others, but these type of series put me in the mood to sew!

For last week's theme of fashion icon I made this fun little shift dress based on the designs of Mary Quant. She is the designer credited with coming up with the mini skirt during the 60's and had a very mod look herself.

I used Simplicity Little Lisette pattern 2063  view C for the dress. The fabric is a design by Mod Green Pod  for Robert Kaufmann called "Chick, Chick" that I found on sale a few months ago. It is a very happy print that I think will work well now and into the Fall. This was my first time working with a Lissette Simplicity  pattern, they are created by Liesel Gibson of Oliver +S. I really enjoyed the sewing this dress and thought the pattern was simple and easy to use. There is not quite the same wealth of sewing knowledge that you find in an Oliver + S pattern, but there are some great tips that really help to make the dress come together well.

Thanks for still stopping by after my extended absence. I really appreciate you all so much! It makes my day to read your kind words. So, anything in particular that is motivating you to sew right now?  I would love to hear about it!

  5. Bless your heart, when I was expecting it seemed I was only motivated to eat gallons of Italian salad dressing and doodle occasionally. The dress is totally adorable, it seems like you've got your creative back in spades!
