dressing my kids in corduroy and denim: my plan for kcwc

I'm so excited for the  Kids Clothes Week Challenge at Elsie Marley! This will be my third time sewing along. The challenge is to sew children's clothing for at least an hour every day this week. It is usually a great week of productive sewing for me (not so great of a housekeeping week). I'm not quite as prepared this week as I have been in the past, but I do have a plan. I am going to follow the advice of David Sedaris (one of my favorite authors) and dress my family in corduroy and denim this fall.

I was lucky to pick up some great fabric at yard sales and sale bins over the past few months. I also have some amazing velveteen and wool that I have been hoarding since last winter.

I have a stack of patterns that are my goal/pipe dream for the week. I am 95% sure that I won't be able to sew all of them during kcwc but a girl can dream. Other that the family reunion dress and music box jumper, they are all patterns that I haven't made before. If you have made any of these patterns I would love to hear any tips or advice you may have!

For day one of kcwc, I finished up a denim Oliver + S Family Reunion dress.  I made the exact same dress last year and Sophie wore it all the time (she has grown up way to much!) I hope to get as much use out of this year's version. Hopefully the bright pink button on the front will make it a favorite.

  1. look how much she's changed in a year !
I have sewn a music box jumper, the pattern/instructions are very straight forward like all O+S, did you see during KCWC that all paper patterns are 20% off?

  2. I love the Sunday Brunch pattern. I've only made the Jacket once and the skirt twice but both are straight forward. The skirt is cut a little short so I'd double check the length before cutting your fabric.

She's grown so much! I like her spunky expression in the recent photo.:)
